About the Committee
The Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM) focuses on addressing global issues related to human rights, social development, humanitarian crises, and the protection of vulnerable populations. It provides a space for delegates to debate, propose solutions, and build consensus on challenges that affect the dignity and well-being of people around the world.

SOCHUM was established as the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly in 1945, alongside the creation of the UN itself. Since then, it has played a central role in shaping international standards on human rights, advancing social progress, and responding to emerging humanitarian concerns through resolutions and cooperative frameworks.
